Mal Ward is a writer, educator, and storyteller.
Writing became an obsession for me to explore my curiosity, process life, and connect with others.
Mal Ward grew up in the foothills of eastern Kentucky where her southern roots grounded her with family and community and exposed her to the human reality of loss, grief, addiction, and poverty. These influences can be seen throughout her writing, impacting her characters’ choices and shaping their circumstances.
She is currently working on a series of short stories that explore themes surrounding sexuality, religion, and mortality– all with an air of suspense and open endings. Her style creates an immersive world where readers befriend her characters and their unique journeys through poetic and rhythmic dialogue and scenes, all in an effort to unfold human emotion and tragedy to get to the good stuff.
